Construction Steps

Base Requirements

● The base concrete should be solid and compact, with a compressive strength not less than 25 MPa. The average pull-off strength should not be lower than 1.5 MPa, and the minimum value should not be lower than 1.2 MPa.

● The moisture content of the base should not exceed 10%.

Base Treatment

● When the compressive strength of the concrete base is less than 25 MPa, reinforcement treatment or rework is required.

● Except for active cracks that are unstable and water-leaking cracks, when the crack width exceeds 0.5 mm, it is recommended to use the filling and sealing method. First, mechanically cut the crack into a V-shaped groove with a depth of 20 mm and a width of 20 mm.

● When hollow spots appear between the leveling layer and the concrete base, they should be removed and the leveling layer reworked.

● When the base shows phenomena such as sandblasting, floating slurry, or surface peeling, it should be mechanically removed.

● When the flatness of the base is checked with a 2-meter ruler and the gap exceeds 3 mm, leveling treatment should be performed.

● When the base has an old coating layer, mechanical methods should be used to completely remove the old coating.

● The concrete base should be treated by milling, shot blasting, or sanding to enhance the bonding strength with the flooring system.

● If the moisture content of the base does not meet the requirements, methods such as wind drying or increasing the indoor temperature can be used to lower the moisture content of the concrete.
